I currently live in North Carolina. Here they have a state funded preschool program for children the year before they enter kindergarten called NC Pre-K. I was a teacher in a NC Pre-K classroom for three years, but now I would love to work in the administrative side. Where we live right now the organization that oversees the classrooms in this county is called Onslow County Partnership for Children. I would love to work for this organization to help ensure all the children are receiving a high quality education at all the centers.
Another organization would be New Beginnings Child Care centers. I was able to observe this center during my last class, Planning and Managing an Early Child Care Center. I was very impressed with their set-up and their devotion to the well-being and safety of the children.
I also would like to work for the NAEYC in North Carolina. This is such a great organization and so important in the early childhood field. They are making a difference at child care centers and in policies and I would love to be a part of it.
I am not currently working or looking for a job. My husband is currently training for his third deployment and with two kids at home and a third on the way I think it is important for me to be home to provide security for them. There are many skills that I will need to work for all these organizations. I need to have the education which I am working on by completing my Master's degree. I also need to have strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to work with a diverse range of people. I work to continue to build and enhance these skills through volunteering until I decide to return to the work force.
Dear Jennie,
ReplyDeleteWe have a program here in Memphis, TN similar to the NC Pre-K. It is called Porter Leath Early Head Start and Head Start. This program employs Pre-K teachers as well. I would love to eventually work for them after I receive my Masters. The teachers are required to have a degree in Early childhood education. Prior to returning to school, I attempted to work there but was not qualified. I plan on trying again later. The hardest part is leaving my job now as an early intervention specialist because I also love this job. So, I am going back and forth on the decision. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Jennie, I am also working as UPK (Universal Pre-K) in New York City. There are growing numbers of UPK in the city and it is a great program, which is similar to the public school setting. I love working here as it has the combination of both private and public school setting. I am sure it is similar in North Carolina. And also your interest in NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) has always been greatest resources and advocate for children. It would be great to work for NAEYC. I wish you all the best and treasure the times with your children. Goodluck
ReplyDeleteJennie,
ReplyDeleteI too am in somewhat of the same boat you are in. I currently love my job of teaching high school family and consumer sciences but always found early childhood education field interesting too. I am more studying early childhood as a backup plan if for some reason I decided I don't love teaching what I currently teach. It sounds like North Carolina has some great opportunities for you and supports systems to help with your project. Good luck!
Jennie, I agree. I would love to work for NAEYC. They are the cutting edge of early childhood education, and their ideals are so right on.
ReplyDeleteJennie, you are working raising three young children is wonderful but also hard work, as I am sure all the skills and knowledge you have learnt about early childhood development have made you a better mom! I like this organization NAEYC, since doing this program I have come to appreaciate the amazing work they do .

Jennie,
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice that you are lucky enough to stay home with your children right now. I too would like to work for NAEYC. There is so much research and new developments concerning childcare that goes on there making it an interesting place to be involved in.
