Jobs/Roles in ECE Community: National/Federal Level

The first organization is Zero To Three. This organization provides information for parents, professionals, and policy-makers about early development (Zero to Three, n.d.). One job I found was Regional field specialist. This job provides assistance and training to staff members in the region (Zero to Three, Feb 9, 2016). For this job I would need more experience in the early childhood field especially in management and training with the CLASS observation tool. I already have a knowledge of the Head Start standards, but since I have not been in the field for a few years I am sure there has been plenty of changes so I would have more to learn. I already have good writing and speaking skills and the ability to work well with others.

Another job would be working as a reviewer for Head Start agencies. I worked for two different Head Start agencies for a combined four years. I think Head Start is a great program and I would love to ensure the agencies are running effective and high-quality programs to best serve the families. This type of job would actually be through Danya International. One position available is a Comprehensive Services/School Readiness Consultant (Danya International, n.d.). Again, I need more experience in the early childhood field to be qualified. I do have the skills to work as a team as well as by myself. I am also good at observation. As a teacher I would frequently observe other classrooms to help provide suggestions to other teachers to help with their classrooms.

I would also love to work the National Head Start Association. This organization advocates for Head Start and provides professional development services for those in the early childhood community (National Head Start Association, n.d.a). One job listed would be Partnerships Project Coordinator. This job would be working with partners of NHSA to help distribute their resources and strengthen the partnerships (National Head Start Association, n.d.b). I meet the qualifications for this position. I am hoping my husband gets orders in the next year for the D.C. area so maybe if we move there I would be able to work for them in the future.

  1. Jennie,
I love the Zero to Three web site and all the things they can do children. They have so many wonderful things that they do and places that they can reach. You would be marvelous in position. I feel the training videos we have seen and worked through have given us great insight in how a good and competent center should run and the things we should be aware of and the questions we need to be asking. I think we are all great team members and collaborators as our discussion boards have proven. We have been able to give our opinions with respect and give due diligence to others and come to compromise and find an answer. If you have to move you have qualifications for a variety of jobs and there are always children so there will be jobs wherever you go.
    Best to You

  2. Jennie,
Zero to three is a great resource that i recommend to the families in our program and my friends who have little ones. The Head Start Agencies seems like a great place to work with the knowledge that we have acquired in this program. Both are great places to use our knowledge. I hope that your husband gets posted to D.C, it is a great area to live. Good luck!

  3. I enjoyed reading your post and almost chose Zero to Three as well. That is a job I would love to do as I too would need more training experience, but last year I did become reliable in the CLASS observation tools. I really like them and use them at my center, however it is hard to find the time to actually observe and give feedback to my teachers. Something I am working on right now.
